Recipes and set-up from our team
How a good slush works
A slush machine freezes a sweetened drink into fine ice crystals. The sugar level decides whether you get smooth slush or a block of ice.
Sugar is the key
Most slush machines need a mix of at least 13 °Brix (13% sugar). Less sugar freezes into a hard block.
Concentrates are balanced
Slush concentrates are balanced for the machine when diluted as directed on the label.
Fresh granita works too
Lemon, coffee and fresh fruit make classic granitas: our team will balance them for your machine.
Big margins
A 12 L bowl gives about 60 drinks of 200 ml, and the machine does the work.

Slush & Granita Ideas: frequently asked questions
What is the difference between slush and granita?
Both are made in a slush machine. A slush is a sweet frozen drink with fine ice; granita is the Sicilian version, often made with fresh lemon, fruit or coffee and served a little thicker.
How much sugar does a slush need?
Enough to freeze into soft ice instead of a block: most slush machines need a mix of at least 13 °Brix. Slush concentrates are balanced when diluted as directed on the label.
How many drinks does a 12 litre bowl make?
About 60 drinks of 200 ml.
Can I make sugar-free slush?
Plain sugar-free syrups often do not freeze properly in a slush machine, because the sugar is what keeps the ice soft. Use mixes made for slush machines.
Can I get a slush machine on loan?
Majors Group offers a free-on-loan slush program for selected partners. See our slush machines page or talk to our team.
Can I get the recipes?
Yes. Our team will set up the recipes for your machine and show you at a free demonstration in our showrooms.
