The Italian Show London: Carpigiani UK Joins as Official Partner

Carpigiani UK was official partner of The Italian Show, a one-day trade event celebrating Italian wine, food and food culture. It ran on Monday 30 May 2022, from 10 am to 8 pm, at the Leonardo Royal Hotel St. Paul’s in London, in the shadow of St Paul’s Cathedral.
Who organised it
The event was run by the UK Sommelier Association, I Love Italian Food and the Federazione Italiana Cuochi UK. It was open to the UK food and wine trade and the specialist press.
Two competitions
- The Best UK Sommelier – Villa Sandi Award: sommeliers took on a series of challenges, judged by journalists, a Master of Wine, a Master Sommelier and other wine experts, who crowned the Best Sommelier in the UK. In the evening the UK Sommelier Association held its annual Graduation Ceremony.
- The Best Chef of Italian Cuisine – Parmigiano Reggiano Award: the first edition, organised by the Federazione Italiana Cuochi UK. Six chefs who had come through two earlier rounds had one hour to cook a main course with at least five elements. A jury of top Italian cuisine chefs tasted and voted to choose the winner.
The wider programme
I Love Italian Food brought Italian producers and protection consortia to London for the first time under The Italian Show, to promote made in Italy supply chains in the UK. There was training on authentic Italian products, storytelling, tastings and networking.
- Wine masterclasses led by the UK Sommelier Association
- Cooking classes by I Love Italian Food and the Federazione Italiana Cuochi UK, using products from the sponsors and led by leading local Italian chefs
- Mixology classes led by the UK Bartenders Guild
- A walk-around exhibition area where visitors could meet food and drink producers and consortia, taste products and network
Chefs, restaurateurs, sommeliers, wine masters, distributors, buyers and specialist press were invited to register for the trade-only event through the event page.
